SYNOPSIS FOR SERIES:

Our Christian faith anchors its hope in the kingdom of God, which is a future reality: One day, the kingdom of God will be established in this world (Rev. 11:15), and there will be no more sorrow, sickness, temptation, sin, and death (Rev. 21:4). There will be eternal joy for all, and we will experience the presence, power, and life of God in all its fullness. The good news is that today, we can have a taste of the powers of the age to come because the kingdom has already penetrated this present evil age. The blessings are already here, albeit not in its fullness. Join Pastor Kong Hee as he unpacks important truths concerning the kingdom of God, which is the object of the gospel of Christ and the works that He does.

1) Kingdom Righteousness
To enter the kingdom of heaven, you need to have a righteousness that surpasses religious moralism (Matt. 5:20). The righteousness of the Pharisees focused on the external, while Jesus zeroes in on the heart. In the greatest sermon ever preached (Sermon on the Mount), Jesus gives us four commands of the kingdom. As you allow more of God’s kingdom to rule in your heart, you will find inner wholeness and mental wellness.

2) The Life of the Kingdom
Eternal life is something that you can already experience today because it begins the moment you put your faith in Jesus Christ. Eternal life is the life of the Holy Spirit. To enjoy and grow in it, you must develop spirituality by paying attention to the life of your human spirit within.

3) The Spirituality of the Kingdom (Part 1)
Spirituality can only be developed in the silence and solitude of communion with God. Everyone who has spent time in a prolonged season of solitude will soon realise that it is the furnace of transformation where your “false self” will come to the surface. In this sermon, you will look at the three temptations that Jesus overcame in the wilderness. As your “real self” surfaces in God’s presence, you need to surrender, and welcome the rule of the King in your soul.

4) The Spirituality of the Kingdom (Part 2): Silence & Solitude
In our extremely chatty and noisy world, silence has become an almost fearful thing. Silence and solitude, however, is the meeting place between God and the human soul. It is only in the solitude of God’s presence that you can come into spiritual union with God. In this sermon, discover the three blessings of silence and solitude. When you can carve time out to be at lonely places with God, your life will be totally changed.

5) The Spirituality of the Kingdom (Part 3): Jesus’ Final Words
Spiritual formation in Christlikeness is the primary goal of the Church. In this sermon, we will delve into the final words of Jesus’—the Great Commission—from a fresh angle. The earliest Christians took these words of Christ very seriously and the result of that is seen in 2,000 years of Church history—they changed the world forever! As you embrace these same words, you will grow into Christlikeness and impact your world.

6) The Kingdom & the Poor: Helping the Poor & Needy (Part 1)
Greatness in the kingdom is not measured by possessions, power, or prestige, but by serving others, especially the marginalised and outcast. Jesus cares deeply for the poor and needy, the broken and wounded. As a believer, you must have the same compassion that Jesus had for the lowliest and neediest among us. The kingdom of God is reserved for such as these.

7) The Kingdom & the Poor: Helping the Poor & Needy (Part 2)
The kingdom of God is an upside-down kingdom. You save your life by losing it. You become first by being the last. You are a leader by serving others, especially the poor and needy. To be great in the kingdom of God, you must take up the cross and follow Jesus in a life of suffering and service towards the poorest and neediest in society.

8) The Kingdom & the Holy Spirit
You must have a revelation of how important the Holy Spirit was to Jesus during His earthly life and ministry. Jesus was born by the Spirit, lived by the Spirit, preached by the Spirit, worked miracles by the Spirit, died on the cross by the Spirit, was resurrected by the Spirit, and ascended to heaven by the Spirit. The kingdom of God is filled with the eternal life and power of the Holy Spirit. The more you yield to the person of the Spirit, the more you will experience the life, love, and power of the kingdom.

9) The Kingdom & Faith
When it comes to faith, you must not confuse the “ideal” with the “normal”. The “ideal” is that you live in perfect health, enjoy perfect happiness and endless blessings—but that is the “ideal”—that is heaven! Here on earth, you live in this “present evil age” (Gal. 1:4) as fallen people, with fallen bodies, in a fallen world. In this sermon, learn about how you can navigate this tension of the “Already and Not Yet” with true faith.

10) Radical Decisions for the Kingdom
Ever since John the Baptist started preaching, the kingdom of God has been “forcefully advancing” (Matt. 11:12, NLT). Correspondingly, following Jesus Christ demands a radical human response—a radical decision and willing surrender. In this sermon, find out what it means to be a citizen of the kingdom.

11) The Demands of the Kingdom
The demands of the kingdom can be very costly. When wealth, position, influence, or ambition fights for your loyalty, you must make a decision to ensure every interest in life becomes secondary or subservient to the rule of God. If you choose personal ambition, pleasure and self-advancement over God’s kingdom, soon, your love for the Lord and the things of God will wither away.

12) The Mystery of the Kingdom
The kingdom of God had already been inaugurated at Jesus’ first coming, but it will only appear in full power and glory at His second coming. This “mystery” of the kingdom is proclaimed to all but only understood by the spiritually responsive. In this sermon, we will look at Jesus’ parables of the kingdom, which He uses to explain this mystery. You will also understand what it means to follow Christ.
